My New Dining Table and Chairs

We are a small family of three. So having a small table and four chairs was not a big deal; except when we wanted to invite people over for dinner. When guests would come, we had to bring other chairs to the table (the computer chair, the living room chair, the tiny chair that sits in the closet...) and our elbows would be touching throughout the meal. We also had to leave the food on the stove and kitchen counter tops. But don't get me wrong. I still loved when I had friends or family over. I did everything without complaining. I just happy that I don't have to do that anymore :) Last week we bought this new Bedford Dinning Set. We can seat 6 people now (or more, if we bring all those chairs from around the house, too). The table also has a butterfly leaf that folds within it, so I have space to put the food on the table. We had fun assembling it. I am also grateful that this one is made of solid wood, which means IT WILL LAST FOREVER! (or something like that).

Now, I would like to get a rug to put underneath it, but I don't know if I have enough space for that... Without a rug it is easier to clean all the food my 2 year old son spills around. With a rug I won't be annoyed with the noises of moving chairs and the kitchen might look cuter. Hmmm...what to do what to do?!
What would you do?

Cute table! About the rug...although it might make the space cuter, I would wait til you are out of the major spilling stage. We have a rug under our table because our dining room has carpet (lame) and Ellie is always spilling/throwing stuff at every meal. So that's my vote!

acabamos de comprar uma mesa nova tb. O que eu queria mesmo era uma mesona que nem a sua só que redonda. Só que a gente nao tava achando nada do jeito que eu queria... sabe quando vc tem algo na cabeca e won't settle for anything less? Well, we ended up settling on something completely different. Mas ta valendo, é bonita a nossa mesa, e combina com a casa e o mais importante é que é uma mesa e tem cadeiras! (passamos uma semana sem mesa nem cadeira - nao recomendo!!!!!)
